Hilary Duff, young Texan lass, is an Artist with Commitment
Hilary Duff’s career actually was launched along with her sister’s when both went to California with their mother, Susan Colleen Cobb. Hilary was born on September 28, 1987 in Houston, Texas, and is known as an American singer and actress. Her fame was sealed in the television show, Lizzie McGuire, and in films such as Cheaper by the Dozen, A Cinderella Story, and Material Girls.
Hilary’s singing talent shines in the four albums she has released to-date: Santa Claus Lane (a collection of Christmas songs), Metamorphosis, Hilary Duff, and Most Wanted. The first album, Santa Claus Lane, made it to the Billboard Top 200 in the US and it eventually earned a gold certification. She sang duets with her sister Haylie and Christina Milian.
Before 2000, Hilary Duff and her sister Haylie broke into television commercials, and Hilary landed a few acting roles, mostly minor ones. Her first major role was in the 1998 film, Casper Meets Wendy, where she played the witch Wendy. In 1999, she starred in a film titled The Soul Collector where she won Supporting Young Actress in the Young Artist Award, in the category, “Best Performance in a TV Movie or Pilot.”
Lizzie McGuire, however, was Hilary’s biggest break because the show, which was first shown on the Disney Channel, managed to capture 2.3 million viewers per episode. It was during this show that Hilary was compared to a young version of Annette Funicello. A Cinderella Story, on the other hand, was a moderate box office hit, but it earned over US$66 million worldwide. Critics were impressed with Hilary’s acting in this film remake of the Charles Perrault’s classic tale. In 2005, she starred in The Perfect Man that received mixed reviews. It was not considered a success, but the film reputedly earned a decent amount of revenue.
Hilary Duff is currently dating Joel Madden, both of whom announced their relationship in June 2005 in an effort to put an end to rumors. The young actress is known to be involved with several charities and is an advocate of animal rights, a donating member of Kids with a Cause, and she was reported to have given US$250,000.00 to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
